By Arvind Ojha: Panic gripped Jamia Nagar area of southeast Delhi after the bodies of two minor siblings were found inside an old wooden box in their house on Tuesday. The incident occurred in Batla House after two children, aged 6 and 8 years, were reported missing.
"A call was received at Jamia Nagar police station that two bodies of children were found at house No. F2, Joga Bai extension. The children used to live in this house with their father, Balbir, who works as a guard (Chowkidar) on the property, DCP said.
A local inquiry revealed that the deceased children had lunch at 3 pm with their parents and went missing at around 3.30 pm.
The parents and other children in the locality started searching for them and later found them in the wooden box.
CASE OF ACCIDENTAL ASPHYXIA?
A crime team has confirmed that there were no injury marks on the bodies of the children and it seems to be a case of accidental asphyxia.
Meanwhile, MLA Amanatullah Khan said it appears the two children accidentally got trapped inside the wooden box while playing, leading to suffocation and subsequent death.
However, the exact cause of death would be ascertained once the postmortem report is available.
